Two Time Morgan World Champion Reiner
Painters Pine Ridge

Our reining Morgan, Painters Pine Ridge, has really become part of our family. We originally were intending on finding a good western bred gelding to bring along as a reiner but his personality was so sweet and easy to get along with there seemed to be no need to geld him. Now, of course, we are so glad we didn't.He has surpassed all expectations!

We bought Pine Ridge as a three year old in October of 1992. He was raised on a working cattle ranch in Crawford, Nebraska by Bob and Jan Painter. They are firm believers that a horse should be able to earn his keep so they breed using horses that have the stamina and personality to excel in whatever they are asked to do. We hauled this horse home from Sturgis, South Dakota with another stallion and there was absolutely no fuss whatsoever! He seems to readily adapt to new surroundings and is able to fit into a new situation without any trouble!

He is out of the Working Western bloodlines. Bred by Polly Smith, he is by Blackwood Correll and out of Primavera Ramona who is a Californio granddaughter. He is 14-2, and a dark chestnut (almost black in color) with no white markings. He has a beautiful head with that extremely long, thick, curly mane and forelock. His legs are straight and fine. He is a shy horse, quiet to work around and very willing to try whatever you ask of him. He is extremely talented as a reiner.

I showed Pine Ridge on the North Central Reining Horse Association and Midwest Reining Horse Association circuits this past year in the Rookie and Limited Non Pro divisions. We beat enough quarter horses and earned enough money that we will no longer qualify as Rookies next year. He is always a gentleman and fun to be around. You know a horse is a patient horse if he can put up with a Rookie rider trying to learn the basics!!! He represented the NRHA and National Morgan Reining Horse Association at the 1997 Midwest Horse Fair.

Pine Ridge was 7th at the Morgan Nationals in 1993, Reserve World Champion Reining Horse in 1994, and World Champion Reining Horse in 1995 with trainer Kim Diercks aboard. Though he didn't go to the Morgan World show in 1996, he was the National Morgan Reining Horse Association 1996 Rookie Champion which is an award given to the highest Morgan NRHA money earner in the club. He was 4th in the Midwest Reining Horse Association Rookie Division end of the year standings in 1995 and 7th in 1996. In 1997 he went back to the Morgan World Show and garnered his second World Championship as well as winning the Open Freestyle Reining.

We currently have 3 of his babies here being groomed for the NMRHA Derby. The coming two year old stallion, W's Ready to Rumble, is a deep chestnut with a strawberry mane; gorgeous head. The coming yearling stallion, W's Lucky Pine Tuff Enuff, is black with two white hind socks. He is exceptionally laid back in demeanor. The coming yearling filly, W's Honey Pine Dizzy Lizzy, is chestnut with coronet white hind feet. She is quick, catty, and has a beautiful face. All three are built solid and square and exhibit athleticism and ability even at this early age. We are very pleased with all three.

Triple S Nugget

Triple S Nugget is palomino in color, 15 hands tall, and has straight legs with plenty of bone. His dam, Triple S Carmenita is a half sister to Pine Ridge. HRG Zagato is a half brother to Nugget. Triple S Top Hand and a sibling are doing very well in dressage on the east coast. The beauty of this breeding is not only the athletic ability which is so easily visualized but the wonderful mind set these animals exhibit. The reining horse has to perform at speed and then instantly shut off. You have to be able to gallop around the ring, say "whoa", and have that horse stop and stand with no fuss until you decide to walk him off. This is probably the hardest thing to achieve with our Morgans. It is very difficult to accomplish through training. They have to be born with it. An athlete without a solid mind is of no use in the Working Western Division!

We bought Nugget from the Painter's at the same time we bought Pine Ridge. He also was a three year old. I have been showing Nugget myself (and learning along the way). We were 5th in the Non Pro class and 3rd in the Non Pro Freestyle at the 94 Morgan Nationals. Do to lack of time, l did not show him in 1995 or 1996. We did go back to the World Show in 1997 and we were 3rd in the World Non Pro Championship and 4th in the Non Pro Freestyle. We could have done better if I would have stayed out of the penalty box but such is life!

Latest News! We've just had a black colt out of Barr's Lucky Lady by Nugget. W's Lucky Nugget Reinman is tenatively the name!
