Back to Tim's Home Page   *  Ashburnham, Massachusetts  is a great place for hiking. Not only does the 100-mile Midstate Trail run right through town, but the nicest place on the trail, Mount Watatic, overlooks the northwest area of town. Mount Watatic is the start of the 21 mile Wapack Trail. The trail follows the ridge northward to Pack Monadnock (which has an old auto road to the summit; look for Miller State Park).    If anyone has some good pics or links, give me a shout, and I'll include them.  See ya's on the trail!

Watatic Summit from E. Watatic

Photo of the old fire lookout tower, which was removed in 1997. The summit and other areas of the mountain are currently for sale, and there is the possibility that a cell tower will be erected on the summit.

 

The background image of this page is my view of Mount Watatic from my back yard!

 

Let's all hope that somehow this beautiful monadnock is protected for everyone to enjoy forever!
